My name is Scott Tungay and along with the two gentlemen in the photo above (Vince on the left, Gary in the middle), I had the privilege of coaching the University of Kentucky Men’s Rugby Club from 2016 to 2019.
I am from Natal, South Africa where rugby is the sport we all grew up on and dreamed about.
After High School I attended the Sharks Satellite Academy in Pietermaritzburg under Steve Botha and Ralph Cawood, achieving my IRB Level 2 Coaching accreditation, while playing as a flyhalf/centre in the junior club system.
I met my wife, Kelli while she was on a mission internship in South Africa.
We were married in 2016 and settled in Lexington, Kentucky.
That Fall, Head Coach Gary Anderson welcomed me on board at the UK Rugby Club, as their Attack Coach.
UK made the SCRC playoffs for the first time in 25 years, and then won back to back Championships in 2017 & 2018.
I am grateful to have been part of a coaching staff that compliments each other’s strengths and weaknesses so well.
We developed an impressive setup through much trial, error, and hard work.
In 2020 we moved to be closer to Kelli’s family in the Cincinnati area.
I am passionate about Rugby as a tool for Masculine Character Building and Rite of Passage.
I aim to encourage Best Possible Rugby in the Midwest, by assisting High School boys’ and University mens’ Coaches with their skills, attack, and culture.
